Pete recently received an email from an old business associate. The fellow had just learned of our move to the bush of Zambia and he inquired if this was “your latest business opportunity, or an item off your bucket list.” It got us thinking.
For folks who know us, the most common reaction to our leaving our jobs, selling our possessions, and moving to a vastly different lifestyle in Africa was “it’s about time.” Friends and family knew, long before we did, that we’d do this. It was always more a question of when.
As you browse this website we think you’ll come to understand not only the funny and poignant experiences of an American couple (of a certain age) living in the backcountry of a central southern Africa country, but the thoughts and convictions of why we’ve done this and why we keep on doing it. Neither Business Opportunity, nor Bucket List adequately describes the motivation and expectations we have for being here. We’re still working things out and we’re happy to share our lives with you.
